Drop-In Play is where the magic of connection happens.  Screens are off.  Children are free to move their bodies in the ways they need in the Gross Motor Room.  Adult/child connections are formed around the art table, the playdough table, block space or the cozy reading nook.  Cognitive connections are formed between children as they learn to take turns, share, or dive deeply into imaginative play with the costumes, puppets, and dolls.  Bonds are formed between adults comfortable in this space to discuss concerns and share stories.  Friendships blossom between staff and families as we get to know each other, and staff become a trusted source for advice and referrals.  This is where the resource centre becomes its own source of ‘community’; free play is the backbone of our centre.
