Who We Are

Humboldt Family Resource Centre (“us”, “we”, or “our”) operates https://heyfrc.ca/ (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and disclose information about our users (“you” or “your”).

Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide to us when you use our Site. This includes personal information such as your name, email address, and phone number when you fill out our contact form, sign up for our newsletter, or make a donation.

We also collect non-personal information about your use of our Site, such as your IP address, browser type, and operating system. We use this information to analyze trends, administer the Site, track user movements, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.

Use of Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide and maintain our Site
  • To communicate with you and respond to your inquiries
  • To send you newsletters and other marketing communications
  • To improve our Site and personalize your experience
  • To administer surveys, contests, or other promotions
  • To comply with legal obligations

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

We use cookies to improve the user experience on our Site. We use both session cookies and persistent cookies. Session cookies are temporary cookies that are deleted when you close your browser, while persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period of time.

We use the following types of cookies:

  1. Essential cookies: These cookies are necessary for the Site to function properly and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in, or filling in forms.
  2. Analytical cookies: These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources, so we can measure and improve the performance of our Site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the Site.
  3. Functional cookies: These cookies enable the Site to provide enhanced functionality and personalization. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we have added to our pages.
  4. Advertising cookies: These cookies may be used by our advertising partners to deliver personalized advertisements that are relevant to you based on your interests.

You can control and/or delete cookies as you wish – for details, see aboutcookies.org. You can delete all cookies that are already on your computer, and you can set most browsers to prevent them from being placed. However, if you do this, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit the Site, and some services and functionalities may not work.

Embedded Content from other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Disclosure of Information

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties. We may share your personal information with service providers who assist us in operating our Site, such as website hosting and email services. These service providers are authorized to use your personal information only as necessary to provide these services to us. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How Long we Retain your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What Rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us and you do so at your own risk.

Third-Party Websites

Our Site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these websites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of these websites before providing any personal information.

Children's Privacy

Our Site is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not provide us with any personal information.
